David H. Narburgh Scholarship ($4,000)

The David H. Narburgh Scholarship was designated to honor the outstanding service of David as member and President of the CDF Board of Trustees (1990-2000) and as Auction Chair (1991-2001).  His dedicated CDF work also earned him the Friend of the Foundation Award (2002).  A graduate of the University of Virginia (1971), David provided speech-language services in several clinical, medical, and educational settings before joining the Prince William Speech and Hearing Center, Woodbridge, VA, where he served as Executive Director and practicing speech-language pathologist from 1982 until his retirement in 2015.  Throughout his career, David was a devoted member of SHAV including SHAV Treasurer (1974-76) and President (1977-79).  He was a SHAV Fellow.

When asked what advice he would give to persons entering the field, David replied, “Embrace continuing education and networking across work settings so that you stay in the loop and so that we can stimulate, support and educate each other and keep enriching our profession.”
