Pat Thomas Dewey Scholarship ($3,000)

The Pat Thomas Dewey Scholarship was offered beginning in 2021 to honor Pat who served the Communication Disorders Foundation of Virginia for 34 years as Trustee and as the CDF President (2005-2015). During her service, Pat spearheaded the CDF auction that raised funds for CDF graduate student scholarships. Pat’s leadership enabled two annual CDF scholarships to more than 40 top-rated speech-language pathology/audiology students from the six Virginia graduate programs. Pat served as SHAV Membership Chair, Treasurer (1979-1983), and as President (1994-96).  Pat was awarded SHAV Fellow (1990), the Martha Mullins-Callender Award (1997), the Governor’s Agency Star Award (2001), the Child Advocate Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics (2005), the Professionals Who Make a Difference Award from Longwood University, and the Friend of the Foundation Award from the CDF (2021).
